Yesterday was the long awaited Give to the Max Day, and oh what a memorable day it was!
The entire 24-hour donation window raised about $13.5 million for hundreds of Minnesota non-profits… now you don’t see that everyday do you?! Wow! All donations will be dedicated to education, health, disability services, immigration and refugee aid, family services, wildlife conservation, and much more.
Metro Blooms was honored to be one of the 60 organizations selected for an interviewed at the Mall of America rotunda; which was the central hot zone buzzing with all things “GiveMn”. Our very own Michael Keenan (Head Landscape Designer) stepped up to the stage to give the low-down for Metro Blooms.
Yet there was more to the story! For the irony was that Susan Nelson, a Metro Blooms board member, had lost a crown on her tooth only minutes before going on stage! Some things you just can’t predict. :/
As the day went on, the numbers tallied and tallied, causing many a jaw to drop. Metro Blooms was honored to raise $3,810 for future rain garden projects and community outreach, topping last year’s 3,200. These generous donations will in turn serve as valuable living green infrastructure protecting our lakes and rivers as well as empowering communities to do so. So who says we can’t change the world around us? Huh?!
A very, very special thank you to everyone who donated on Give to the Max day, be it to Metro Blooms, or to any of the other fabulous organizations that participated. You, the donors, manifested from your passions and beliefs this epic heart-felt day of genuine human spirit. With the most successful GiveMn day to date, we can safely say that we have collectively grasped tighter the possibilities of working together. Inspiring, isn’t it?
