Metro Blooms started partnering with the City of Lakes Community Land Trust (CLCLT) and the City of Minneapolis in 2023 to provide workshops on sustainable gardening and yard care to CLCLT homeowners. The land trust, a nonprofit based in Northside Minneapolis, helps make home ownership more affordable and provides support to its homeowners to maintain their homes. The hands-on workshops, led by young adult staff from our Community Relations team, included learning about native plants, habitat for pollinators, more sustainable practices in managing stormwater and yard maintenance. Two CLCLT community members generously offered to host the workshops at their homes, and Metro Blooms Design+Build worked with them to design and create native plant gardens in their yards. We also hosted listening sessions to better understand how we could best support the community in the future.
