Minneapolis Public Schools Maintenance

Metro Blooms works with Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) to maintain and inspect stormwater management practices at more than 20 sites district wide. These practices include rain gardens, underground infiltration systems, permeable pavement, and wet ponds. Metro Blooms takes a sustainable, pollinator-friendly approach, and does not use herbicides. Vegetation management includes hand pulling weeds, planting and seeding native shrubs, grasses and flowers, and clearing dead plant material.  We partner with local contractors to complete restoration work. Metro Blooms works with the City of Minneapolis to secure more than $60,000 in stormwater credits annually for MPS. As long as its stormwater management practices are inspected, maintained and reported on, MPS remains in compliance with the City’s stormwater management ordinance and continues to receive stormwater credits every month.
