St. Louis Park Neighborhood of Raingardens
In two years, this successful partnership between the City of St. Louis Park Rainwater Rewards program and Metro Blooms has brought almost 50 raingardens to St. Louis Park yards since beginning in 2018. The City subsidizes the cost of design and installation of raingardens for residents, and Metro Blooms’s own crew works with the Conservation Corps to excavate them. As with many of our programs, residents invest a little bit of ‘sweat equity’ putting in their own plants according to their raingarden designs. The goal is to intercept rainwater runoff in these raingardens to protect downstream water quality and add pollinator habitat. This project will be continuing.
