Metro Blooms is pleased to announce the 2015 Top Minneapolis Garden Awards. These gardens represent some of the most beautiful, creative and sustainable gardens in the Minneapolis, selected by volunteer evaluators from more than 1,000 nominations.
The Minneapolis Garden Awards program has been recognizing outstanding work in publicly visible gardens since 1983. Photos of these amazing gardens can be accessed on Metro Blooms’ Facebook page, as well as on the Metro Blooms website.
The 2015 Awardees are as Follows:
Best Alley Garden: Mary Lynn McPherson (4805 Drew Ave. So.)
Best Formal Garden: Marsha and Stephen Cusulos (4753 Vincent Ave. So.)
Best Public Raingarden: Nokomis Library (5100 34th Ave. So.)
Best Prairie Garden: Barb and Hans Gasterland (272 Vincent Ave. No.)
Best Whimsical Garden: Chris Chrofilis (1247 Cedar Lake Road So.)
Best Boulevard Garden: George McKay Reid ( 3114 W. 28th St.)
Best Pollinator Raingarden: Carol Wahl (5748 James Ave.)
Best Residential Garden: Derrik Gagliardi (1819 13th Ave. So.)
Best Congregation Raingarden: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (2730 31st St. East)
Metro Blooms is a nonprofit organization that promotes environmentally sound gardening and landscaping practices. If you’d like to recognize a gardener, you can nominate your favorite garden for a 2016 Minneapolis Garden Award online at www.metroblooms.org. Nominations for a 2016 award are due July 8.
