Explore Our Work
Metro Blooms provides resources to help people take on more sustainable landscape practices, from rain gardens that filter and clean water to native plantings that provide habitat for pollinators. Partnership is central to how we work. We partner with community groups, nonprofits, local government, business owners and individuals, from youth to elders and homeowners to renters. In our work, we center communities impacted by environmental injustices. Below are some of our programs and projects. We’ve grouped them under various headings to make it easier to browse, but we acknowledge that some projects can easily fit in different categories. We hope you learn a little more about what we do!
Partnering With Rental Communities
We engage with residents of rental communities to redesign their outdoor spaces. We invite residents to be part of decision-making. The redesigned landscapes center community priorities while incorporating more environmentally sustainable practices.
Sharing Knowledge and Resources
We love sharing what we know, through our Blue Thumb education programming and through partnering with communities to provide learning opportunities.
Native Plant Habitat to Protect Pollinators
Native plants support pollinators and other wildlife, and improve soil and water quality. We provide opportunities to take on native plant project, individually and with others.
Working Towards Clean Water
Plant-based stormwater practices like rain gardens help prevent runoff that pollutes our lakes and rivers. We engage with neighborhoods, cities, small business districts and rental communities on learning about and installing these practices.
Community Involvement Focus
Sometimes residents of a neighborhood work together on projects featuring more sustainable practices. We love taking part!
