Kenwood School

Built in 2015, the Kenwood Poetry Stepping Stone Raingarden is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Metro Blooms, Kenwood Elementary School, Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, artist Zoran Mojsilov and writer Louis Erdrich. A granite stepping-stone path meanders around four existing elm trees and eight small raingarden basins with infiltration columns filled with drainage rock.

The Conservation Corps of Minnesota & Iowa installed the raingardens, and fifth-graders and volunteers planted 840 plants. This garden area captures 2,400 gallons of stormwater runoff from the nearby playground  during a 1″ 24-hour rain event.
