Working in conjunction with numerous partners, this project led to the first permeable alleyway, privately owned, in Minneapolis. We monitored runoff in the alley for a year. Then, in the spring of 2018, we had a PaveDrain system installed in the alleyway to capture and infiltrate runoff. Preliminary results show that more than 90% of the runoff flowing to the alleyway was captured with the PaveDrain system., and “after” monitoring continues to demonstrate its effectiveness. Residents along  the alleyway also had rain gardens installed in their yards to capture runoff that was not flowing directly to the alleyway. Read a blog post about this project.
