Minnetoga Neighborhood of Raingardens
With funding from Hennepin County and the City of Minnetonka, and in partnership with the Minnetoga Lake Association, this project targeted properties draining to Lake Minnetoga for the implementation of stormwater best management practices (BMPs) such as raingardens. The goal was to improve water quality, create pollinator habitat, and empower property owners to take action to protect clean water. Lake Minnetoga is the headwaters of Nine Mile Creek. In addition to being a recreational resource and great urban habitat for wildlife, it impacts water quality downstream. Participants attended a maintenance training led by Metro Blooms to teach them about sustainable methods for maintaining their new raingardens.
